Approved Teaching Centers

GAC Teachers
GAC teaching staff are selected for their high level of English language skills, with all centers having a range of native speakers with an ability to teach students for whom English is not their first language

All teaching staff attends regular training sessions with GAC Regional Academic Managers to ensure that you receive quality classroom teaching.  Teachers are also regularly appointed from within the GAC teacher network, which constantly searches for high quality teachers around the world. 

Assessment

The learning outcomes and the assessment methods for each module are linked closely to the course outcomes. Summative assessment will be used to determine learner results.   

Assessment methods include:

Written tests, Oral Presentations, Group Presentations, Written assignments, Tutorial exercises, Computer-based tasks, Role Plays, Demonstrations, Log Books, Projects, Practical exercises. 

Monitoring of Academic Standards & Curriculum Review

As this program will be delivered by a number of teaching centers globally, monitoring of academic standards and review of curriculum is integral to the continuous improvement of the program.  

The monitoring process incorporates: 

  • Center level – It is the course coordinators’ responsibility to ensure that subject specific meetings per level are conducted to evaluate and review program delivery and assessment tools. Cross marking of major assessment items is required.
  • Regional level – Regular regional meetings are held to discuss program delivery, including assessment and moderation.
  • Global level – Individual centers will be audited biannually by the Curriculum Unit.
  • External Review - The Certificate IV in Foundation Studies – Global Assessment will also be subject to an external review process.

A Global Governance Board will conduct the external review.  It will undertake the following: 

  • Review the implementation of the program provide advice on changing educational requirements
  • Monitor and evaluate course standards, delivery and as assessment

Graduation Certificates

When students successfully complete Level 3 of the Global Assessment Certificate they will receive a Graduation Certificate presented at a graduation ceremony. Students will also receive an Academic Transcript, which is a formal record of their study achievements. This is an important document because it must accompany their application to any pathway university.

Level I:  This consists of 6 core modules, including spoken and written communication skills for tertiary study, computer and keyboard skills, an intro to mathematics and the language of mathematics, study skills, and personal and group development skills. (240 hours of classroom study, plus 120 hours of independent study)

Level II: This consists of five core modules that develop the concepts, skills and competencies introduced at Level I.  The language modules focus on intermediate level academic skills required at tertiary level.  Computer skills are extended to include database and spreadsheet fundamentals.  Mathematics includes statistics. Higher order study skills are included.  The first elective is introduced in this level with students having the choice between business and science modules. (240 hours of classroom study, plus 120 hours of independent study and 30 hours of IELTS or TOEFL Preparation)

Level III: This provides for more in-depth study and preparation for further study at an advanced level.  The major focus of the modules is on students attaining a higher level of academic competency prior to university study.  There are four core modules in this level and two electives. In addition to continuing with a business, science or maths elective, students are also provided with a choice of international test preparation skills according to their preferred study destinations requirements. (240 hours of classroom study, plus 120 hours of independent study and 30 hours of ACT Preparation)

Admission and Fees

         ADMISSION AND ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS 

Admission requirements are school completion and an IELTS of 5.0 or a TOEFL of 500 for direct entry into the program.  Students with test scores below these levels may still apply but they will be required to take the GAC entrance exam and or ESL program prior to entrance.  School documents will also be required and will be used for university admission upon completion of the GAC University Foundation Program.
